Privacy policy

This page is the plain-language summary of how iElect collects, processes, and retains personal data. It applies to visitors to this site and to users of any iElect product that is directly operated by iElect. Where a product is operated by an electoral commission or other data controller, that organisation’s privacy policy applies alongside this one.

1. Who we are

iElect provides election technology to electoral commissions, political parties, civil-society observers, press organisations, and citizens across Africa. For the purposes of this policy, iElect is the controller for data collected directly through this site (marketing site, contact forms, newsletter). For product data, the operating commission or party is the controller and iElect is the processor under a signed data-processing agreement.

2. What we collect

  • Information you provide in contact or demo forms: name, organisation, role, country, message.
  • Anonymous usage analytics collected by Plausible (no cookies, no cross-site identifiers, no advertising profiles).
  • Server-side logs with IP addresses for security and rate-limiting, retained for 30 days.

3. Lawful basis

We rely on legitimate interest for analytics and security logging, and on consent for newsletter subscriptions and form submissions. Under NDPR we operate on a comparable lawful-basis framework; under GDPR we apply Article 6 bases directly.

4. How we use data

  • To respond to your enquiry, once.
  • To send you the publications you asked for, and nothing else.
  • To measure which content visitors find useful, in aggregate.

5. How we do not use data

  • We do not sell personal data. Ever.
  • We do not share personal data with advertising networks.
  • We do not use cross-site tracking cookies.

6. Your rights

You can at any time request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you.

Email privacy@ielect.ng. We respond within 30 days under NDPR and within the statutory GDPR window for EU data subjects.

7. Retention

Form submissions: retained for 24 months from the last contact, then purged. Analytics: retained indefinitely in aggregated form only — no individual record survives processing.

8. Changes

Material changes to this policy are communicated on the site 30 days before they take effect.
